17. Rain Kiss
The rain had been pouring in this god-forsaken area for what seemed to be hours, and refused to let up. Of course it was cold, and damp, and rather dreary, but Elliot didn’t mind the rain too much. That all changed when it started getting colder. Sooner or later, he would’ve had to build a fire, but the rain never let up.
The cold sunk in like sharp teeth to his flesh, the rain only making it worse. His clothes were soaked and it got to a point where he couldn’t stop shaking. The same could be said for Naomi, but she was much smaller and probably more prone to the cold than he was. If they didn’t do something soon, they’d probably get incredibly sick.
As she sat there, shaking in their poor excuse for a temporary shelter, Elliot went and wrapped his arms around her, hoping to share whats left of his body heat. They sat for a moment, doing what they could to keep warm, when their eyes finally locked. Maybe it was just a temporary feeling, but he let his emotions take over.
Elliot leaned in and let his lips connect with hers, the contact creating a sudden feeling of warmth within him. It could have been quick, or it could have taken all night, but his sense of time had all but gone. When they finally broke, he was speechless. After a moment of silent staring, nothing but the sound of heavy rain beating on the roof above them, Elliot spoke.
“——Maybe I should’ve asked first.”
